Memphis, Auburn Set for High-Profile Exhibition in NBA Arena
Jul 29, 2025 | Men's Basketball
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis men's basketball will face Auburn, a 2025 NCAA Final Four participant, in a high-profile exhibition matchup on Thursday, Oct. 30 at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, event organizer Complete Sports Management announced Tuesday.
The matchup is a rematch of last season's meeting between the programs, when then-No. 4 Auburn defeated Memphis, 90-76, in the championship game of the 2024 Maui Invitational.
This year's contest comes on the heels of a strong 2024-25 season for both teams and will close out a high-profile college basketball doubleheader at the home of the Atlanta Hawks.
"Anytime you get the chance to compete against a Final Four team like Auburn, you embrace it," Memphis head coach Penny Hardaway said. "These are the kinds of games that prepare you for March. It's a great test for us as we prepare for the season."
The event will open with a women's basketball showdown between perennial national powers South Carolina and North Carolina at 5:00 p.m. CT, followed by the headline men's game between Memphis and Auburn at 7:30 p.m. CT.
"We're excited to work with Memphis for the second year in a row on a great exhibition matchup helping them gauge their team preseason," said Lea Miller-Tooley, CEO, Complete Sports Management. "Coach Hardaway has done a great job recruiting and this will showcase their talent early on."
Tickets for the doubleheader go on sale Friday, Aug. 8 at 9 a.m. CT via Ticketmaster.
While not a charity event, the exhibition serves as a premier stage for college basketball talent in one of the NBA's elite arenas.
Auburn is coming off a run to the 2025 NCAA Final Four, where it fell to eventual national champion Florida in the semifinals. Memphis, meanwhile, enters a new era in 2025-26, set to debut a completely revamped roster following a 29-6 campaign that included both the American Conference regular-season and tournament titles. The Tigers earned a No. 5 seed in the NCAA Tournament and closed the year ranked No. 25 in the final Associated Press poll.
