Men's Basketball Lands Trio of Transfers in Holloway, Reid and Williams

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – University of Memphis men's basketball head coach Anfernee "Penny" Hardaway has announced the additions of guards Josh Holloway and Jayden Reid, along with forward Corneilous Williams, to the Tigers' 2026-27 roster.
Holloway, a 6-foot-1 Memphis native, joins the Tigers after spending the 2025-26 season at Texas A&M, where he appeared in 34 games and shot 50.5 percent from the field and 40.0 percent from three-point range. Prior to his time in College Station, Holloway began his collegiate career at Samford, helping lead the Bulldogs to both the Southern Conference regular season and tournament titles in 2023-24.
During his two seasons at Samford, Holloway played in 68 games with 11 starts, shooting 42.1 percent from the field and 27.7 percent from beyond the arc. As a sophomore, he earned SoCon All-Defensive Team honors and was named Sixth Man of the Year after totaling 49 steals and two blocks.
A product of Oak Hill Academy (Va.), Holloway averaged 11.4 points, 3.2 assists, and 1.8 steals per game as a senior. Prior to transferring to Oak Hill, Holloway starred at St. George's Independent School in Memphis, where he averaged 15 points and eight assists as a junior.
Reid, a 5-foot-10 guard, arrives at Memphis following the 2025-26 season at Northwestern. In his lone season with the Wildcats, Reid started 28 of 34 games, averaging 10.1 points per game while shooting 39.0 percent from the field and 31.7 percent from three-point range.
The Westbury, N.Y. native began his collegiate career at American Conference rival South Florida, where he played in 64 game with 36 starts over two seasons with the Bulls. Reid was named to the 2024-25 Preseason All-American Athletic Conference Second Team after earning AAC All-Freshman Team honors. During his sophomore campaign in Tampa, Reid stuffed the stat sheet with averages of 12.6 points, 3.6 assists, 2.6 rebounds and 1.8 steals per game.
A standout at Long Island Lutheran High School, Reid was named the 2023 Class AA Player of the Year and led the Crusaders to a state championship. Reid was rated as a three-star prospect by 247Sports, and ranked as the No. 6 player in the state of New York and the No. 26 point guard nationally.
Williams, a 6-foot-9 native of Beaumont, Miss., joins Memphis after two seasons at North Alabama. He appeared in 64 games, averaging 10.8 points per game while shooting 58.9 percent from the field. During his time in Florence, Williams led the ASUN Conference with 317 total rebounds, averaging 9.1 rebounds per game in his first season. That mark ranked 21st nationally and set a new Division I program record.
Williams began his collegiate career at Western Carolina, where he played in 29 games, averaging 3.5 points per game while shooting 70.7 percent from the field. He totaled 101 points and 87 rebounds during his time with the Catamounts.
Prior to college, Williams competed at Combine Academy during the 2021–22 season, averaging 13.2 points and 8.8 rebounds per game. He earned MVP honors at both the DME Beach & Ball Classic and was named to the All-Tournament Team at the Big Shots Prep Nationals.
