Feb 04, 2025 | Men's Basketball
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The No. 17 Memphis Tigers begin the second half of their American Athletic Conference schedule Wednesday night when the Tulsa Golden Hurricane storm into town. Tipoff inside FedExForum is set for 7 p.m. on ESPN+.
The Tigers will go for their sixth-consecutive win and their 10th overall in the last 11 games.
Memphis is coming off a two-game road swing that saw it pick up wins at Tulane (68-56) on Thursday, and at Rice (86-83) on Sunday.
PJ Haggerty led the Tigers against the Owls with 26 points, eight rebounds and five assists in a homecoming in front of a large contingent of friends and family.
Haggerty was named to two midseason watch lists this week – the Oscar Robertson Trophy and the Jerry West Shooting Guard of the Year Award – and enters Wednesday as the No. 4 scorer in the country at 21.6 points per game.
After an impressive showing on the hardwood in those two wins, fifth-year guard PJ Carter landed a spot on the AAC's Weekly Honorable Mention after coming off the bench to average 16.5 points with nine made 3-pointers.
Tulsa (9-13, 3-6 AAC) brings a two-game skid into the matchup after falling 78-68 at home to UAB last Wednesday and 59-56 on the road at Tulane on Sunday.
The Golden Hurricane is just 1-5 on the year in true road games with their only victory coming against UTSA, 82-77, on Jan. 7 in San Antonio.
The two sides have met 54 times in the series history with the Tigers leading 33-21 overall, including 13-3 inside FedExForum and 17-9 in games played in Memphis.
