Carter Named AAC Honorable Mention

IRVING, Texas – After an impressive showing this week on the hardwood, Memphis guard PJ Carter was named to the American Athletic Conference Weekly Honorable Mention list, the league office announced Monday.
The 6-foot-4 shooter came off the bench to average 16.5 points per game to help lead the No. 17 Memphis Tigers to wins at Tulane (68-56) on Thursday and at Rice (86-83) on Sunday. Carter shot 55.0 percent overall (11-of-20) and nailed 56.3 percent (9-of-16) from deep.
The Atlanta, Georgia native scored 14 points with three rebounds against the Green Wave in 26 minutes. He led the team with four 3-pointers in the win.
Against the Owls, the fifth-year guard recorded a season-high 19 points and two assists in 25 minutes. He was 5-of-7 from long distance and came away with a steal on the final possession.
Carter has now scored double figures in three-straight games after not having done so in any of the first 19 games this season.

The Tigers (18-4, 8-1 AAC) are back home to begin the second half of their conference schedule this week. They welcome Tulsa at 7 p.m. on Wednesday and then a Super Bowl Sunday rematch with Temple at 1 p.m.
