Tigers, Bears Clash Saturday Afternoon on CBS
Dec 05, 2025 | Men's Basketball
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Riding the momentum of back-to-back wins, the Memphis Tigers go for a third-straight victory Saturday afternoon at FedExForum against RV/RV Baylor. Tipoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m., and the game will be televised on CBS.
A win Saturday would give Memphis its first win of the season over a power conference opponent after having 18 such victories over the last three seasons. The contest will be the first of a four-game agreement that will see the Tigers travel to Waco the next two seasons before closing out the series back at FedExForum in 2028-29.
Memphis (3-4) delivered one of its most complete performances of the season Wednesday night, cruising to an 86-70 win over New Orleans. The Tigers controlled the game from start to finish for the second consecutive outing, at one point stretching their lead to 25 points in the second half. It was the program's largest lead of the season, thus far.
The win marked head coach Penny Hardaway's 158th-career victory, moving him into a tie with Dana Kirk for the fifth-most victories in program history.
Baylor hits the road for its first true road test of the season. The Bears bring a 6-1 record to town with notable wins over Washington, Creighton and San Diego State.
An interesting nugget about this game – Memphis and Baylor are two of only three teams in Division I who return zero players from last season; the other team being Miami.
Saturday's game is an opportunity for the Tigers to get their first win against a Big 12 opponent under Hardaway. In three previous meetings with Big 12 teams, Memphis is winless.
