Memphis Heads Back to the Bahamas for Baha Mar Championship
Nov 19, 2025 | Men's Basketball
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – As Thanksgiving approaches, the Memphis Tigers are once again packing their bags for a tropical test. After back-to-back runner-up finishes in major late-November events - the 2023 Battle 4 Atlantis and the 2024 Maui Invitational - Penny Hardaway and company returns to paradise this week for the Baha Mar Championship in Nassau, Bahamas.
The Tigers will play two games in the four-team event, beginning Thursday at 5 p.m. CT against No. 1 Purdue on CBS Sports Network. Memphis will then face either No. 15 Texas Tech or Wake Forest on Friday to close the tournament.
Memphis enters the week at 1-2 and looking for a rebound after Sunday's 92-78 home loss to UNLV, the team's first setback inside FedExForum this season after winning the previous 11 home contests.
Sophomore guard Julius Thedford led the Tigers with a season high 16 points and six rebounds in the loss.

BY THE NUMBERS
- 1: Memphis will be playing the No. 1-ranked team in the AP Poll for the first time since a 75-65 win over Houston in the 2023 American Conference title game. That is the Tigers' only win in school history against an AP No. 1 team.
- 4: The Tigers have won four straight games against Purdue, the longest active winning streak by any team against the Boilermakers (min. 1 game vs. Purdue in last 45 seasons).
- 5: Memphis enters Thursday having won five straight games against Big Ten opposition, that is the third-longest active streak in Division. Only Kansas (10) and Auburn (8) have won more.
- 6: Six different Memphis players have scored 15 or more points in a game this season, which is the most such players by any American Conference team. It also equals the amount of such players the Tigers had all last season.
- 50.0: Memphis has shot at least 50.0% from both the field and three-point range in each of its last three games against teams ranked in the top five of the AP Poll. That's the longest such streak by any DI team this century.
- 55.8: Last season, Memphis' starting unit accounted for 78.9% of its scoring, the third-highest share in the American. This season, the starters only account for 55.8% of the team's points scored, the lowest share in the conference.
