Castro Fabra Plays Way Into Singles Main Draw; Tigers Find Great Success in Opening Round of ITA Central Regional

NORMAN, Okla. – University of Memphis men's tennis student-athlete Marcos Castro Fabra played his way into the Main Draw of the ITA Central Regional yesterday, leading into a successful opening round for the Tigers on Thursday.

Castro Fabra and Marko Milosavljevic, along with Maxime Dubouch and Leandro Zgraggen kicked things off this morning with doubles wins over Wichita State and Oral Roberts, respectively. Both Castro Fabra/Milosavljevic and Dubouch/Zgraggen fell in their second-round matches.

After a bye in the first round Sam Reeve and Obrad Markovski took down Christo Alex and Walker Valentine from North Dakota to advance to the Round of 16 in Doubles. They will take on Calum Jestin/Connor Thomas Doig from Tulsa tomorrow starting at 5 p.m.

In singles play, Mortiz Kudernatsch defeated Jestin from Tulsa 6-2, 6-3 and will take on Henry Lamchinniah from Nebraska tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. Luis Sandoval Carvalho battled against Connor Smillie from Arkansas to a 7-6 [4], 7-5 victory to advance to the Round of 32.

Dubouch and Zgraggen both won their opening singles matches to move on to the next round tomorrow morning.
