Tigers to Host Blazers on Wednesday

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis (10-15, 1-9 American) returns to Elma Roane Fieldhouse to face UAB on Wednesday at 7 p.m. on ESPN+.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
The Tigers come into the match after dropping a home match against Florida Atlantic before a lost to Temple on the road.
Zaniah Hoskins led the offense with 26 kills and 29 points averaging 3.25 kills per set and 3.63 points per set. She also recorded 23 digs in the two matches. Setters Maddy Bach and Sydney Marshall combined for 84 assists, with Marshall setting a career high of 38 against FAU. Janyah Henderson led the Tigers in blocks with 10 averaging 1.25 blocks per set. The junior also recorded 16 kills and 22.5 points over the weekend.
Abigail Schlueter had back-to-back ten plus digs with 25 being her total. The junior libero averaged 3.13 dig per set.
Brianna Washington and Riley McCloskey also had standout performances. Washington tallied 14 kills and six blocks—including two solo—while McCloskey added nine kills and one block.
SCOUTING THE BLAZERS
UAB (8-14, 1-9 American) heads to Memphis after dropping both matches to Temple and FAU.
Jorda Crook powered the Blazers' offense with 30 kills and 35 points last weekend, averaging 3.75 kills and 4.38 points per set. Crook leads UAB with 277 kills this season, averaging 3.96 per set.
Setters Annastiina Tarkkanen and Izabella Carter each posted 20-plus assist matches—Carter with 31 against Temple and Tarkkanen with 21 versus FAU. Tarkkanen averages 6.08 assists per set with 365 on the year.
Defensively, Delaney Bowser led the team with 25 digs over the weekend. The redshirt junior has 216 digs this season, averaging 2.77 per set.
SERIES HISTORY AGAINST UAB
Wednesday marks the 60th meeting between Memphis and UAB. The Tigers hold a commanding 38-match advantage in the series. The Blazers won the previous meeting in Birmingham, but Memphis has captured the last five matchups overall, including the last three in Memphis.
