NEW ORLEANS – University of Memphis quarterback Brendon Lewis was named to the Allstate Sugar Bowl Manning Stars of the Week list, the award committee announced Monday.
The Manning Award was created by the Allstate Sugar Bowl in 2004 to honor the college football accomplishments of Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning. It is the only quarterback award that includes the candidates' bowl performances in its balloting. Since the Manning Award started recognizing Stars of the Week in 2011, 600 different quarterbacks from 138 schools have been recognized. Fifth-four players have been honored so far in 2025.
Lewis, a redshirt senior out of Dallas, Texas, helped lead the Tigers to a 34-31 win over No.18/20 South Florida this past weekend. His career day of 307 passing yards led him to two touchdowns in the come from behind victory. Connecting with 10 receivers for the second time this season, Lewis found Cortez Braham Jr. twice during the game for scores – including the go-ahead score with 1:07 remaining in the game.
Lewis went on to add on 35 yards on the ground and one reception for 14 yards.
