MEMPHIS, Tenn. – After a 2-0 start, the University of Memphis football team is ranked 25th in the nation in the latest US LBM Coaches Poll, released on Sunday afternoon.
This marks the first time being ranked inside the top 25 in either national poll for the Tigers since week five of the 2020 season when Memphis was No. 24 in the Coaches Poll and No. 25 in the AP Poll.
The Tigers are the only Group of 5 team ranked in this week's Coaches Poll after receiving 85 votes. In addition to being ranked No. 25 in the Coaches Poll, Memphis received 38 votes in the AP Poll and landed just outside the top 25 at No. 30.
The Tigers recorded a 40-0 shutout of North Alabama on August 31 at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium to kickstart the highly-anticipated 2024 season and followed that up with a 38-17 home win over Troy on September 7. Memphis was picked to win The American in the 2024 AAC Preseason Media Poll with 23 of 30 first-place votes after putting together the fifth 10-win season in program history a year ago.
The Tigers go on the road to Tallahassee, Florida, for their first road game of the season against preseason No. 10 Florida State (0-2) on September 14 with kick scheduled for 11 a.m. CT on ESPN.
