Memphis Opens up Conference Play at Home

Memphis, Tenn. – The University of Memphis volleyball team will start conference play at home this week playing against Wichita State on Wednesday at 6 p.m. and UAB on Sunday at 1 p.m. Both matches will be available to stream on ESPN+.
The Tigers are looking to get back in the win column after back-to-back losses at the Webb-Burbridge Classic last weekend.
Memphis has accumulated 528 kills, averaging 12.68 kills per set. Hannah Jones had a career-high 20 kills during the Montana State game last weekend and continues to lead the team in kills with 125. Tabytha Toelke follows behind with 77 kills on the season so far.
Memphis averages 11.77 assists per set, led by Jordan Heatherly, who has recorded 382 assists on the season. Heatherly has also tallied 21 aces so far and ranks second in the conference. Memphis leads the AAC averaging 1.88 aces per set.
Abigail Schlueter leads Memphis with 4.07 digs per set, placing her third in the AAC. Schlueter has 171 digs on the season. Clara Bednarek had another impressive weekend at the net getting her hands on nine blocks.
Wichita State (5-7) comes into conference play after a five-set victory over Omaha at the Shocker Volleyball Classic. The Shockers are led by Middle Blocker Morgan Stout, who has accumulated 125 kills and 43 block touches so far. Both Outside Hitters for the Shockers have tallied more than 100 kills on the season: Brooklyn Leggett (101) and Emerson Wilford (112).
UAB (5-6) is on a four-game losing streak coming into conference play. The Blazers are led by Jorda Crook, who has 129 kills and a .263 hitting percentage. Defensively, UAB is fourth in the conference, averaging 2.23 blocks per set, with Middle Blocker Madison Page leading the way.
