Two Tigers Finish in the Top Ten; Team Finishes Sixth in GMAC Invitational

ONEONTA, Ala. – In the final day of the GMAC Invitational, the University of Memphis men's golf team picked up a sixth-place finish after going 19 under par for the weekend while Yixiang Wang and Jackson McCommon both recorded personal bests with top ten finishes individually.
"We sandwiched a great round with two really poor efforts. We will look at the stats and spend a day getting things cleaned up before departing Friday," head coach Blake Smart said. "I did like a lot of things I saw, particularly with Yixiang and Jackson having personal best finishes."
A rough round three plagued the Tigers as all players recorded multiple bogies throughout the day. Wang led the team in round three, coming out two under par for the round while Diego Lourenco finished the day one under par following birdies on holes three, eight and 11.
Wang finished the weekend in fourth place with a 203 (-13) final score while McCommon picked up his first top ten finish with a four-way tie for 10th place with a 210 (-6) final score. Lourenco finished T25th, Cian O'Connor finished T54th and Kaiser Godinezfinished T62nd.
Playing as an individual, Andrew Baucum finished T18th with a 212 (-4) final score.
