Oct 01, 2024 | Men's Golf
MADISON, Wis. – After recording the second lowest round score for the day, the University of Memphis men's golf team took home a share of fourth place at the Badger Invitational while Yixiang Wang recorded his second consecutive top 10 finish, individually, this season.
"I like the way we fought on a difficult, windy day," said head men's golf coach Blake Smart. "We continue to show signs of progress and I'm looking forward to seeing more action after a little break and practice."
A struggle on the front nine threatened the Tigers as they crawled as high as second place today in the team competition. Thirteen combined bogies from the group put them at 12 over par. But both Jackson McCommon and Diego Lourenco would eagle hole 16 to help Memphis stay atop the leaderboard.
Wang picked up his second top 10 finish, individually, with a 214 final score and a share of 10th place while Andrew Baucumfinished tied for 21st at two over par with a 218 final score.
