Memphis Heads West to Webb-Burbridge Classic at Arizona State

Memphis, Tenn. – The University of Memphis volleyball team will travel to Tempe, Arizona to play in the Webb-Burbridge Classic September 19-20.
Memphis will play on Thursday at 2 p.m. against Montana State and Friday at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. against Prairie View and Arizona State, respectively. Friday night's match can be viewed on ESPN+. All game times are Central Standard Time.
The Tigers come into the tournament with a 5-4 record after coming from behind to win against Indiana State in the final match of the Bluff City Showdown. Memphis has accumulated 393 kills, averaging 12.68 kills per set.
Hannah Jones and Tabytha Toelke led the team, each with 27 kills last weekend. Toelke also recorded the highest hitting percentage of .324 while surpassing 1,000 career digs. Freshman Tiffany Snook followed behind with 19 kills.
Memphis averages 11.77 assists per set, led by Jordan Heatherly who has recorded 275 assists on the season
Defensively, Memphis is averaging 15.06 digs per set, led by Abigail Schlueter with 121 digs so far. Clara Bednarek had another impressive weekend at the net getting her hands on nine blocks.
Montana State (1-7) is coming off a 3-0 loss on Sunday to Iowa State and is led by Madilyn Sieber with 77 kills on the season.
The Lady Panthers (2-8) come into the tournament after a five-set victory over Texas A&M Commerce. Prairie View is led by Kylee Owens, who has 111 kills so far. During their last game, Owens had 21 kills with a .347 hitting percentage and 20 digs.
Arizona State (8-1) comes into the weekend with only one loss on their record to No. 5 Nebraska. The Sun Devils are led by Outside Hitter Geli Cyr who had 12 kills and a .500 hitting percentage during their last game. On the defensive side, the Sun Devils are picking up 14.48 digs per set with Mary Shroll holding a team-best 144 digs.
