Tigers Take on 2024 American Outdoor Track & Field Championships

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The University of Memphis track and field team is back on the track at the Park West Athletic Complex as they will compete at the American Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships in San Antonio, Texas, Friday through Sunday.
Action kicks off Friday morning with the women's (7:30 a.m.) and men's (8:15 a.m.) 10,000-meter races followed by women's hammer throw and multi-events at 11 a.m. Action resumes Saturday morning with multi-events before field events begin at 3 p.m. with women's long jump. Saturday track prelims will start at 5:25 p.m. with the women's 100-meter hurdles. Sunday's action will be started with men's high jump at 2:30 p.m. before the full slate of track finals begins at 4:30 p.m.
All three days of the championships will be streamed live on ESPN+ and live results can be found here.
Women's AAC Indoor 60-meter hurdle champion Madison Fleming will look to complete the short-hurdle sweep by winning the 100-meter hurdles this weekend. The school-record holder enters the meet ranked third in the conference, one spot behind teammate and indoor 60-meter hurdles bronze medalist, Gizel Clayton.
NOTABLES
Women:
• Clayton is ranked 29th in the NCAA East Region and second in the AAC for the women's 100-meter hurdles after running a 13.29 at the LSU Alumni Gold Meet.
• 100-meter hurdler Fleming is ranked 32nd in the NCAA East Region and third in the AAC with a time of 13.30 ran at the Memphis Tiger Invitational.
• Seeded third in the AAC and 15th in the NCAA East Region for women's pole vault, Arina Razina jumped a height of 4.20 meters at the LSU Alumni Gold Meet.
• Jadaja Baxter jumped 6.22 meters in the women's long jump at the Memphis Tiger Invitational and is currently ranked third in the AAC and 24th in the NCAA East Region.
• Poorna Raorane is ranked 43rd in the NCAA East Region and fourth in the AAC for the women's shot put after throwing 15.45 meters at the LSU Alumni Gold Meet.
• Javelin thrower Julia Konigshofer is ranked 39th in the NCAA East Region and fifth in the AAC with a throw of 45.52 at the 2021 Joey Haines Invite.
Men:
• Sascha Salesius Schmidt is ranked highly in multiple throwing events. In the shot put, the sophomore is first in the AAC and ninth in the NCAA East Region with a throw of 19.39 meters thrown at the Memphis Tiger Invitational Meet which set a new school record. In discus, he is ranked 49th in the NCAA East Region and fourth in the conference after throwing 53.71 meters at the Crimson Tide Invitational.
• Entering the weekend seeded third in the AAC and 24th in the NCAA East Region for men's high jump, Lewis LaGrant jumped a personal-best height of 2.13 meters at the Memphis Tiger Invitational.
• Dajuan Montague jumped 2.10 meters in the men's high jump at the Memphis Tiger Invitational and is currently ranked fourth in the AAC and 44th in the NCAA East Region.
• Will Dibo has also had a lot of success this season. In the discus throw, he is ranked 24th in the NCAA East Region and third in the AAC with a mark of 56.99 meters at the LSU Alumni Gold Meet. Dibo is also ranked third in the AAC and 37th in the NCAA East Region in the hammer throw after throwing a season-best 62.81 meters at the Rhodes Invitational.
