Track & Field Set to Host Annual Memphis Tiger Invitational

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis track and field team is set to host the annual Memphis Tiger Invitational in Memphis, Tennessee, at the Billy J. Murphy Track & Field Complex on Friday and Saturday.
The two-day meet will commence at 2 p.m. on Friday with men's long jump, women's hammer throw, men's javelin and men's pole vault. Distance events will begin at 6 p.m. Friday night with the women's 1,500 meters. Action resumes Saturday with men's high jump and women's shot put at 10 a.m.
"We hope to run a professional, efficient and athlete-friendly meet," head coach Kevin Robinson said. "I hope to see my team put everything on the line on the track and in the field for the hometown friends and families in attendance. Hoping to fine tune some technical issues and prime our athletes to be at their best for conference in two weeks."
NOTABLES
• Gizel Clayton Ran a wind-legal time of 13.29 in the 100-meter hurdles at the LSU Alumni Gold Meet on Saturday. Her time is second in the AAC, No. 24 in the NCAA East Region and No. 45 in the NCAA. It was also good for the second-fastest time in program history and a lifetime best for Clayton. School-record holder Madison Fleming is currently No. 68 in the region and sixth in the AAC with a season-best time of 13.70.
• Arina Razina won the pole vault at the LSU Alumni Gold Meet on Saturday with a lifetime-best clearance of 4.20 meters (13'9.25"). That mark is No. 3 in the AAC, No. 14 in the NCAA East Region and No. 31 in the NCAA.
• Will Dibo threw the discus a lifetime-best 56.99 meters for the third best mark in the AAC this season to finish third at the LSU Alumni Gold Meet. Additionally, that throw ranks No. 22 in the NCAA East Region and No. 40 in the NCAA. Dibo also ranks third in the AAC and 33rd in the NCAA East Region in hammer throw (62.81 meters).
• Sascha Salesius Schmidt leads The American with a 18.43-meter shot put throw. That mark puts him at No. 24 in the NCAA East Region and No. 40 in the NCAA.
• Poorna Raorane threw a season-best mark of 15.45 meters in the shot put last Saturday at the LSU Alumni Gold Meet. Her mark improved her to No. 38 in the NCAA East Region and No. 4 in the AAC.
• Kyndia Matlock, Jadaja Baxter, Clayton and Madison Fleming achieved a season-best time of 45.22 in the women's 4x100-meter relay. That time earned them seventh place overall on Saturday at the LSU Alumni Gold Meet. The time moves the quartet to No. 56 in the NCAA East Region and No. 4 in the AAC.
• Chloe Figgins is sixth in the conference with her school-record time of 35:24.18 in the 10,000 meters.
• Gabrielle Cross owns the sixth-fastest women's 400-meter time (54.12) in the conference and ranks 55th in the NCAA East Region.
• In the 3,000-meter steeplechase, Liam Walsh's time of 8:58.21 is fourth-fastest in the conference and No. 49 in the NCAA East Region.
• Teammates Lewis LaGrant and Dajuan Montague are tied for sixth in the AAC in the men's high jump (6'6.75" / 2.00 meters).
• Adam Yakobi ranks seventh in the conference in the men's 400-meter hurdles (52.57).
