Tigers Record Big Marks in Baton Rouge

BATON ROUGE, La. – The University of Memphis track and field team had a strong day of competition as they competed at the LSU Alumni Gold Meet in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on Saturday.
Gizel Clayton turned in a big performance for the Tigers with the fastest wind-legal 100-meter hurdle time in program history (13.29), and the second-fastest overall time in Tiger history to improve to No. 42 in the NCAA this season. Women's pole vaulter Arina Razina also had a big day, clearing 4.20 meters to improve to No. 30 in the country and win the meet.
NOTABLES
• In the men's discus, Will Dibo hit a personal-best throw of 56.99 meters to finish third and improve his mark to No. 22 in the NCAA East Region this year.
• Arina Razina hit a big personal record today of 4.20 meters to take first place in the women's pole vault, improving her mark to No. 13 in the NCAA East Region and No. 30 in the NCAA.
• Kyndia Matlock, Jadaja Baxter, Gizel Clayton and Madison Fleming achieved a season-best time of 45.22 in the women's 4x100-meter relay. That time earned them a seventh-place finish.
• Women's 100-meter hurdler Gizel Clayton put down the second-fastest time in school history, and the fastest wind-legal time (13.29). Clayton's time moves her to No. 31 in the NCAA this season.
• Poorna Raorane threw a season-best mark of 15.45 meters in the women's shot put and finished seventh.
• Liam Walsh ran 8:37.67 in the men's 3,000-meter race and took second place.
• Chloe Figgins ran a season-best time of 10:03.42 and J𝗮𝗹𝘆𝘀𝘀𝗮 𝗦𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗵 ran a personal record of 10:07.80 in the women's 3,000 meters. Figgins placed second and Smith finished right behind her in third place.
• Adam Yakobi ran a 52.85 in the men's 400-meter hurdles to earn second place.
• Men's shot-put thrower Sascha Salesius Schmidt finished second place with a throw of 18.26 meters.
