Feb 08, 2024 | Men's Track and Field, Women's Track and Field
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The University of Memphis track and field team will be back on the track at The CrossPlex on Friday and Saturday, competing at the Bulldog Invite (Friday) and Bulldog Open (Saturday) hosted by Samford in Birmingham, Alabama.
Competition begins at 10 a.m. both days with the women's weight throw. Live results are available to follow at this link.
"Just trying to build off the momentum from last week," head coach Kevin Robinson said. "We are coming off a full training week for the first time this year, so I am hoping to see some definite improvements. We are starting to settle in. Some big things will hopefully be coming soon."
Last time out at the Jaguar Invitational on Feb. 4, the Tigers were highlighted by a big performance in the men's weight throw from sophomore Will Dibo. The Vienna, Austria, native launched a lifetime-best mark of 21.29 meters (69'10.25") to win the event and put his name at No. 2 all-time in the event at Memphis, behind only 2010 NCAA runner-up Steffen Nerdal. Dibo's mark ranks second in The American, third in the NCAA South Region and No. 24 in the NCAA this season.
Other strong performances at the Jaguar Invitational included a runner-up finish in the men's shot put by Sascha Salesius Schmidt and a lifetime-best time of 24.49 by Jadaja Baxter to take gold in the women's 200 meters – the 11th-fastest time in the conference this season.
