Memphis Volleyball Releases Spring Slate

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis volleyball team head coach Sean Burdette released the spring slate Wednesday afternoon.
"This spring we will have a very competitive slate as we compete against teams from several Power 5 conferences and top regional competition," Burdette shared. "We are excited to kick off our schedule with a home match on Wednesday, March 20th against Ole Miss and then follow that up with a collegiate tournament in Nashville and end with another collegiate tournament in Louisville, KY. Each of these play dates will provide us an opportunity to showcase all the hard work we've put in since last fall."
Memphis will host only one match this spring season as Ole Miss heads north to take on the Tigers in the Larry O. Finch Center on Wednesday, March 20, at 7 p.m.
The Tigers finished the 2023 season on a three-match win streak, sweeping their final homes series against Temple and defeating North Texas in the season finale.
Memphis added three new faces to the roster this off season in Emma Levingston, Olivia Melton and Courtney Nix. The Tigers will also showcase key returners in Clara Bednarek, Autumn Flynn, Jordan Heatherly Catalina Martinez and Abigail Schlueter.
Bednarek led the team in points (315.5) and hitting (.273) along with tallying the most blocks (99) last season. Flynn follows closely with 73 blocks on the season and a .259 clip for the season. Heatherly and Martinez ran a dual setter system, leading the Tigers offensive charge, with Schlueter holding down the back row with 404 digs on the season.
