Memphis Sweeps Temple in Second Straight AAC Win

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis Volleyball team closed out the weekend with a sweep over Temple Sunday afternoon at the Larry O. Finch Center.
The Tigers (9-9, 3-3 AAC) dominated in the 3-0 win over the Owls (8-11, 1-5) led by Hannah Jones with 12 kills. Tiffany Snook followed behind with 10 while Tabytha Toelke, Jasmyn Tate and Clara Bednarek all recorded seven kills as well.
The Tigers brought the heat from behind the service line, recording 10 service aces. Jordan Heatherly and Snook both led the team with three.
Temple took an early 7-2 lead in the first set but Memphis used a 7-0 run to take the lead at 12-8. The Tigers extended their advantage with another run, with crutial kills from Toelke, Bednarek and Snook. Memphis controlled the pace of the set winning 25-15.
The second set started with back-and-forth action until Memphis was able to pull ahead 17-14. The Owls closed the gap to even the score at 18. Both teams fought to the end until a huge kill by Tate sealed the deal at 25-23.
The third set remained a contested battle through midway of the set. Memphis pushed ahead using a 5-1 run to go up 18-14. Temple could not recover, as the Tigers won the last six out of eight points, including an uncontested kill from Snook, en route to a 25-19 victory.

The Tigers will be back at home Friday, Oct. 18 to play Tulane at 6 p.m. The match will be available to stream on ESPN+.
