BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The No. 19 University of Memphis men's basketball team fell to UAB, 97-88, in an American Athletic Conference road game Sunday evening inside Bartow Arena in Birmingham, Alabama.

The Tigers (15-5, 4-3 AAC) were plagued by a season-high 22 turnovers as they suffered a third-straight loss. Memphis shot 31-for-64 (48.4%) overall including 10-of-23 (43.5%) from three-point range.

Fifth-year big man Malcolm Dandridge had a career-high 19 points on 8-of-11 shooting, adding four steals and three rebounds. David Jones put up 24 points, nine rebounds and seven steals for the Tigers but it would not be enough from the nation's fifth-leading scorer.

The Blazers (13-7, 5-2 AAC) were led by Yaxel Lendborg's 23 points and Eric Gaines (20 points) as UAB won for the ninth time in its last 11 games.

Memphis used the starting lineup of Jahvon Quinerly, Jaykwon Walton, David Jones, Nicholas Jourdain and Malcolm Dandridge for the 10^th-straight game.

Memphis fell to 39-12 against UAB, dropping the first game since 2017 against the Blazers.
The Tigers dropped their first game this season when scoring 80-plus points.

Nae'Qwan Tomlin finished with 12 points on 4-of-5 shooting to go along with three rebounds off the bench.
Memphis outscored UAB 38-36 in the paint and 18-16 off the fast break.
The Blazers outrebounded the Tigers 40-32 and scored 23 second-chance points, compared to 11 for Memphis.
