DALLAS, Texas – The Memphis Tiger men's soccer team faced off with 16^th ranked SMU tonight in their American Athletic Conference opener. Despite scoring late in the match, Memphis would suffer their first loss of the season after a 2-1 decision.

After tonight's game, Memphis moves to 4-1-2 overall and 0-1 in AAC play.

KEY MOMENTS

Tiger goalkeeper Colin Welsh put in serious work tonight, making four saves in the opening frame.
Despite Memphis playing the majority of the half on their defensive end, Giorgos Kondylis would fire a shot off in the 33' that would make SMU goalkeeper Cole Johnson make a diving save.
The Mustangs would take a 1-0 lead into halftime after Mads Westergren found the back of the net off a corner kick in the 38'.
Following a quiet first half, offensively, the Memphis offense would come alive getting chances from Hyeonsang Jang, Alberto Cruz and Lineker Rodrigues dos Santos.
SMU would extend their lead in the 63' when Alex Salvo snuck one in from the top of the box.
Rodrigues dos Santos would cut into the SMU lead in the 89' when he scored his sixth goal of the season off a free kick deep in the box to make it a 2-1 game. Memphis would attempt to tie the match in the final seconds but would not be able to connect for another strike and faced the 2-1 loss.
