MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Memphis Tiger women's soccer team will stay on the road this week as they head to Iowa State to take on the Cyclones.
Memphis (3-1) is coming off a battle with #7 Alabama where they fell 2-1. Anna Hauer scored the Tigers lone goal of the match in the 50'.
"Looking to bounce back after a tough loss to Alabama," said head women's soccer coach Brooks Monaghan. "We felt like we put in 45 minutes of good soccer, and we need to get back to 90 minutes of good soccer.
For the season, Saorla Miller leads the team with three goals while five different Tiger players have recorded two goals each – Hauer, Mya Jones, Momo Nakao, Anne-Valerie Seto and Ashley Henderson.
In goal, Kaylie Bierman has been the go-to for Memphis, picking up all three wins while making nine saves in just under 293 minutes played.
"Looking forward to this match. We've been playing them for the past couple of years and it's always been a competitive game; I've gotten to know their coach and really respect what he does with their program." said Monaghan.
Iowa State (2-2) is coming off back-to-back losses against Iowa and South Dakota State. Lauren Hernandez and Abigail Miller scored the two Cyclone goals last week while Jocelyn Tanner and Avery Gillihan split time in-goal for ISU.
"Our focus has been getting back to playing a full 90 minutes of good soccer and if we can get back to that, we're going to put ourselves in a really good spot to win," said Monaghan.
Thursday's match will be the fourth time the two teams have met. Memphis currently holds a 3-0 record over Iowa State while outscoring them 7-0 over the past three seasons.
Kick-off in Ames is scheduled for 6 p.m. with coverage available on ESPN+.
