Tigers Ready for AAC Outdoor Championships in Tampa

TAMPA, Fla. – The Memphis Tigers track & field teams are prepped and ready to compete at the 2023 American Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships at the USF Track Complex in Tampa, Fla., Friday through Sunday.
Action is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. Friday and is slated to resume on Saturday at 10 a.m. and Sunday at 1:30 p.m. Live results for all three days of competition can be found here.
"It's championship season," head coach Kevin Robinson said. "It's time to step up, execute at a high level and put it all on the line for each other. I expect to see a number of our athletes do some great things. We have a lot of opportunities. We need to handle the moment, stay mentally strong and compete with composure. I am cautiously optimistic, and we are all ready to go."
NOTABLES
• At the Tigers' annual Memphis Invitational, Amber Simpson launched a 68.13-meter throw (223'6") to set a new facility, meet and school record. Additionally, her throw ranks sixth in the NCAA this season.
• Samantha Lenton won the discus at the Ole Miss Classic with a 56.93-meter (186'9") throw that currently ranks 16th in the nation. Additionally, her throw of 61.08 meters (200'5") in the hammer throw at the Louisville Invitational ranks 48th in the country this season.
• Jada Shanklin won the women's high jump (5'10" / 1.78m) at the Ole Miss Classic with a jump that currently ranks 31st in the NCAA.
• Sascha Salesius Schmidt won the shot put at the Harding Invite with a personal-best throw of 17.92 meters (58'9.5"). That mark ranks 33rd in the East Region. In addition, his discus mark of 56.04m (183'10") is No. 25 in the East Region.
• In the 100-meter hurdles, Madison Fleming took down Tayanna Simpson's school record set in 2009 when she clocked 13.59 at the Joe Walker Invitational to finish third. Her time ranks just outside the top-48 in the East Region.
• Will Dibo finished runner up in the men's discus at the Louisville Invite with a 54.98-meter throw (180'4"), a mark that currently ranks 32nd in the East Region. Dibo also has a personal-best throw of 17.24 meters (56'6.75") in the shot put that ranks 67th in the East Region.
• Men's javelin thrower Vitaliy Favorov broke out with a big personal-best throw of 70.50 meters (231'3") to win the Memphis Invitational and move up to No. 16 in the East Region and No. 27 in the nation.
• At the Louisville Invitational, Evan Puckett recorded an outdoor PR with a clearance of 5.15 meters (16'10.5") in the pole vault to finish third and take his place at No. 30 in the East Region this season. On the women's side, Alyssa Morello cleared 4.17 meters (13'8.25") to win the Memphis Invitational last time out to put her at No. 14 in the East and 31st in the country. Monica Aldrighetti has a season-best clearance of 4.05 meters (13'3.5") that ranks 40th in the East this season.
• Poorna Raorane's mark of 15.30m (50'2.5") in the shot put ranks 47th in the East Region.
