Freshman Neely Taylor Named to AAC All-Rookie Team

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – University of Memphis softball outfielder Neely Taylor was selected to the American Athletic Conference (AAC) All-Rookie Team for her performance for the Tigers throughout the 2023 season, the conference announced Wednesday.
"We are really proud of [Neely] and all that she accomplished this year, she worked hard and earned a spot on the All-Rookie Team." Head coach Stephanie VanBrakle Prothro said. "She played an important role in our outfield and came up with some big hits during the season in the lineup."
Taylor started 38 of 44 games and recorded a .247 batting average over the season. Taylor also notched 14 runs on 22 hits and brought in four runs, including a walk off one-run single to defeat Indiana State 10-9 on March 10. Taylor also ended the regular season going 3-for-4 on stolen bases along with hitting one double and one triple this season and played an important role as a member of the Memphis outfield.
The Tigers look for a chance to prolong their post season berth as they take on the Knights of UCF in the AAC Tournament in Tampa, FL, on May 11 at 1 p.m.
