MEMPHIS, Tenn. – University of Memphis baseball junior left-handed pitcher Dalton Kendrick was selected to the American Athletic Conference (AAC) Weekly Honor Roll after picking up a pair of saves last week in Tiger wins. Kendrick became the fourth Tiger honored this season, joining Brayland Skinner, Anthony Hansen and JT Durham.
Kendrick picked up a save in Memphis' mid-week win at Central Arkansas on Feb. 28. He entered the game with the bases loaded in the eighth inning and pitched the Tigers out of the jam before recording the game's final three outs to clinch the win and earn his second save of the season.
The Hernando, Miss., native earned his third save of the year in game one of the Tigers' three-game series at Nicholls on March 3. Kendrick lowered his season ERA to a stellar 1.64 over 11 innings of relief.
Of Tiger pitchers that have thrown 10 or more innings, Kendrick leads the team in ERA (1.64), WHIP (.82), batting-average against (.171) and has the fewest number of hits allowed (six). In addition, the 6-foot-5 southpaw has struck out 14 and allowed just three walks.
The Tigers play a med-week game on Tuesday night at Lou St. Amant field in Monroe, La., against UL-Monroe at 6 p.m. Sophomore David Warren is slated to make his third start and fourth overall appearance on the mound.
