Tigers Ready for Joey Haines Invite, Washington Distance Carnival

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis track and field teams head to Cape Girardeau and St. Louis, Mo. for the Joey Haines Invitational and the Washington University Distance Carnival for two days of competition on Friday and Saturday.
"Really hoping weather cooperates and we can continue to build momentum," head coach Kevin Robinson said. "We have already secured a few athletes to the NCAA Regional meet and we're looking to add more and more each week."

Notables:
- The Tigers opened their outdoor season at the Harding Invitational, where Samantha Lenton went three-for-three, winning the women's shot put (14.04m / 46'0.75"), discus (51.26m / 168'2") and hammer throw (58.81m / 192'11). Lenton then won the discus at the Ole Miss Classic last time out with a 56.93-meter (186'9") throw that currently ranks fifth in the nation.
- Jada Shanklin won the women's high jump (5'10" / 1.78m) at the Ole Miss Classic with a jump that currently ranks 11th in the NCAA.
- In the women's hammer throw, Amber Simpson's mark of 63.52m (208'5") is currently No. 9 in the NCAA.
- Sascha Salesius Schmidt won the shot put with a personal-best throw of 17.92 meters (58'9.5") at the Harding Invite. That mark ranks 29th in the country. In addition, his discus mark of 53.43m (175'3") is No. 33 in the East Region.
- Will Dibo won the men's discus at the Ole Miss Classic with a 54.23-meter throw (177'11"), a mark that currently ranks 21st in the East Region and 45th in the country.
- On the men's side, javelin thrower Vitaliy Favorov took gold at the Harding Invite in his season debut and won again last time out at the Ole Miss Classic (66.36m / 217'8"). His mark ranks 20th in the East Region.
- Poorna Raorane's mark of 15.30m (50'2.5") ranks 26th in the East Region.
- Senior pole vaulter Cole Riddle finished the indoor season as a Second Team All-American, placing 14th at the NCAA Indoor Championships in Albuquerque, N.M. on March 10.
- Monica Aldrighetti was AAC Indoor Champion in the pole vault on Feb. 25.
- The Tigers claimed 11 medals at the American Athletic Conference Indoor Championships on Feb. 24-25 (one gold, three silver, seven bronze).
- The men's squad finished sixth (49.5 points) and the women's team finished seventh (52 points) at the AAC Indoor Championships.
