Memphis Closes Out Season at North Texas

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis volleyball team travels to North Texas for its season finale, on Wednesday, Nov. 22, at 12 p.m. The Tigers (10-20, 6-12 AAC) are looking to add one more to their win streak as they close out the season.
"It's the last match of the season on the road against another new conference opponent in North Texas," head coach Sean Burdette said. "This will be our first trip to Denton for a mid-day match where the Mean Green are very strong at home. We look forward to carrying the momentum from our Temple matches into tomorrow's contest."
UNT (17-14, 11-7 AAC) is on a two-match skid after falling to SMU in back-to-back matches last weekend. The Mean Green are searching for a win to close out their home play.
North Texas is hitting a .232 clip and averaging 12.9 kills per set. The Mean Green are led offensively by Sh'Diamond Holly, who leads the AAC in hitting percentage at .415, and Treyaunna Rush, who has racked up 335 kills and is averaging 3.11 points-per set.
UNT middle blocker Truli Levy leads the team with 128 blocks on the season and ranks sixth in the AAC. Aleeyah Galderia leads the team with 486 digs with 4.02 digs per set, good for a top-10 placement in the AAC.
Tiger freshman Autumn Flynn earned a spot on the AAC Honor Roll on Nov. 20 after tallying 26 kills and hitting .337 in the Tigers' weekend sweep of Temple.
Memphis is averaging 11.9 kills-per set while putting up 1.7 blocks-per set. The Tigers are fourth in the conference in service aces, averaging 1.55 per set this season. Rylee Busse leads the AAC with 44 aces on the season, averaging .42 per set.
Two Tigers have tallied 200 or more kills on the season so far. Clara Bednarek leads the team with 235, followed by Tabytha Toelke with 215. Abigail Schlueter leads Memphis with 3.67 digs-per set. Bednarek tops the Tigers with 91 blocks so far this season with Flynn ranking second on the squad with 69.
