Tigers Travel to Bahamas for Bad Boy Mowers Battle 4 Atlantis Tournament

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis women's basketball team will set off for paradise when they head to the Bahamas to take part in the Bad Boy Mowers Battle 4 Atlantis Tournament. Memphis will open the weekend against RV/RV Arizona on Saturday afternoon. Tip-off is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. CT with coverage available on FloHoops ($).
Memphis (1-2) was the talk of to the town this week after taking #15 Tennessee to overtime in Knoxville on Monday night. The Tigers, who battled from being down multiple times during the game, finished the fourth quarter on an 11-3 run to tie the game at 69-69 and send it to overtime.
Despite tying the game back up with 2:51 to play in overtime, the Lady Vols sank seven free throws to take the 84-74 win.
Kai Carter led the team with 18 points while Madison Griggs, Alasia Smith and Ki'Ari Cain all scored in double-figures. On the defensive end, Memphis forced Tennessee into 24 turnovers – 15 of them coming in the first half.
Through three games, Griggs and Carter lead the team with 15.3 and 12.3 points per game, respectively, while Smith and Shelbee Brown are pulling down a combined 10.6 rebounds per game – a team-best.
The Tigers will take on RV/RV Arizona in the first round of the tournament on Saturday afternoon. The Wildcats (4-0) are coming off a 79-66 win over San Diego where Kailyn Gilbert led all scorers with 21 points while Arizona forced the Toreros into 29 turnovers.
So far this season, Arizona has five players averaging double-figures; Gilbert, Esmery Martinez, Salimatou Kourouma, Breya Cunningham and Maya Nnaji.
Saturday's match-up will be the first ever meeting between the Tigers and Wildcats. Tournament information can be found HERE.
