Tigers Announce 2024 Baseball Schedule
Nov 14, 2023 | Baseball
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis baseball team announced its 2024 schedule on Tuesday – the program's first under head coach Matt Riser. The 56-game slate features 30 home games at FedExPark Avron Fogelman Field, with the home opener scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 21 at 4 p.m. against Central Arkansas.
"We are very excited for the spring and to compete against this schedule," Riser said. "The amount of home games we have against NCAA-Regional caliber teams and SEC opponents will make FedExPark a fun place to be. This schedule will challenge us and prepare us for the postseason. We will need a ton of support to help us secure a home field advantage. FedExPark will be rocking come the spring time and we can't wait to see it."
The Tigers will open the season on the road with a three-game series against Jacksonville State in Jacksonville, Ala. on Feb. 16-18, before coming home to host Central Arkansas in the home opener. Memphis follows that up with its first home series of the season against Bowling Green, Feb. 23-25, followed by a two-game, mid-week set with the Skyhawks of UT Martin and a three-game series with Wright State.
The Tigers travel to Oxford, Miss., for a game with Ole Miss on March 5 and the Rebels return the favor with a trip to Memphis on April 2. Last season, the Tigers and Rebels split the season series, one game apiece. Memphis won in Oxford behind a four-run ninth inning propelled by back-to-back-to-back home runs to give the Tigers the memorable comeback win.
Additional home non-conference games at FedExPark Avron Fogelman Field include Butler (March 8), Presbyterian (March 9), Jackson State (March 10), North Alabama (March 12), Arkansas State (March 13), Lipscomb (March 26), Mississippi State (April 23) and Arkansas-Pine Bluff (April 30).
The Tigers open American Athletic Conference play on the road at South Florida (March 22-24) before coming home to host AAC newcomer Florida Atlantic for a three-game series (March 28-30). Memphis hosts another newcomer to the conference on April 12-14 when the Roadrunners of UTSA come to the Bluff City before welcoming perennial AAC-power East Carolina for a three-game set, April 26-28. The Tigers wrap up conference and regular season action May 16-18 with a home series against Wichita State before the AAC Tournament (May 22-27).
