No. 9 Memphis Set for Pair of Matches this Weekend

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The No. 9-ranked University of Memphis rifle team will have a pair of matches this weekend against top-10 opponents.
On Saturday, Nov. 11, the Tigers will head to Lexington to face No. 6 Kentucky at 7:15 a.m. before returning home to the R.F. Fogelman Rifle Range on Sunday, Nov. 12 to compete against No. 4 Georgia Southern at 9:15 a.m. Live targets for both matches can be found at GoTigersGo.com.
Memphis enters the weekend with a record of 4-3 on the season after going 2-1 in three matches on Oct. 28-29. After falling to No. 12 Akron, the Tigers bounced back to defeat both No. 7 Ohio State, 4710-4705, and No. 16 Morehead State, 4710-4680. In the tri-match against OSU and MSU, Memphis set a program record in air rifle with a score of 2382.
On the season, sophomore Gabriela Zych has paced the team with averages of 586 in smallbore, 596.4 in air rifle and an aggregate of 1182.4. Freshman Kenlee Ewton is second on the squad with averages of 579.5 in smallbore, 592.667 in air rifle and an aggregate of 1172.167.
Kentucky is undefeated on the season with a record of 4-0 entering the weekend, with wins over Morehead State, Navy, Akron and Ole Miss. Georgia Southern is 6-1 on the year with victories against North Georgia, Georgia Military College, The Citadel, VMI twice and Wofford.
