Nov 01, 2023 | Women's Soccer
LAKEWOOD RANCH, Fla. – The University of Memphis Tiger women's soccer team is set to take on Charlotte in the American Athletic Conference Championship semifinal match Thursday afternoon.
Memphis (16-1, 9-0 AAC) overcame its first deficit since August on Tuesday morning when the Tigers found themselves down 1-0 going into halftime against UAB. Anne-Valerie Seto and Saorla Miller would both find the back of the net in the second half to give the Tigers the 2-1 victory.
With the win, the Tigers have strung together 13 in a row – a program best.
Charlotte (9-6-4, 4-3-2 AAC) annihilated East Carolina in the second AAC Quarterfinal on Tuesday with a 5-0 victory over the Pirates. Four different 49er's scored in the match with Macey Bader netting two goals, one of which came just 42 seconds into the action.
Earlier this season when the Tigers and 49er's met, a goal from Momo Nakao in the 32' was all that was needed as Memphis battled its way to a 1-0 win. Kaylie Bierman made four stops in the match while Finley Lavin and the Tiger defense blocked mulitple Charlotte shots to keep them off the board.
Thursday's match is scheduled for a 3 p.m. CT kick-off with coverage available on ESPN+.
