Mayor of Memphis Jim Strickland to Release the Tigers on Saturday

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Jim Strickland, the Mayor of Memphis, will be the "Release the Tigers" honoree for Saturday's Homecoming football game against South Florida at 2 p.m. at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium.
Mayor Strickland, a 1986 graduate of the University of Memphis and a 1989 graduate of the School of Law as well, will also serve as the Grand Marshall of the Homecoming parade on Friday. Mayor Strickland is also a fervent supporter of Memphis Athletics.
"We could think of no better way to thank Mayor Strickland for his loyal support of the Tigers than by having him send the team onto the field before the Homecoming game," University of Memphis Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Laird Veatch said. "We truly appreciate Mayor Strickland's service to our City and our University during his time as Mayor, as we wish him all the best as he transitions to the next chapter of his life."
