No. 11 Memphis Wins Tri-Match with School Record Effort

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 11-ranked University of Memphis rifle team won a tri-match against No. 7 Ohio State and No. 16 Morehead State on Sunday in Columbus, Ohio with an aggregate team score of 4710. The Tigers placed second in smallbore with a score of 2328 before winning air rifle with a school-record total of 2382.
Ohio State took second in the tri-match with an aggregate of 4705, while Morehead State was third with a total of 4680.
"I'm really proud of how the team recovered from yesterday and performed in today's match," head coach Morgan Phillips said. "They really applied everything they learned and had a great overall team effort. There were multiple stand-out performances which led us to breaking our air rifle program record. It's very exciting to see us breaking records early in the season."

• Angeline Henry and Gabriela Zych led the way for Memphis in the tri-match on Sunday, both tying for second place in the individual standings with aggregate scores of 1181.
• The duo tied for the lead in air rifle with totals of 597 and tied for fourth in smallbore with scores of 584.
• Freshman Kenlee Ewton took fourth in the individual standings with an aggregate of 1181. She tied for second in smallbore with a 585 and placed fourth in air rifle with a 595.
• Jack Kersey rounded out the Tigers in the top-10 individual standings, finishing ninth with an aggregate of 1168.
