MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis women's soccer team will play in their final regular season match of the season when they head to Tulsa to take on the Golden Hurricane on Thursday evening.
Memphis (14-1, 8-0 AAC) has been on a tear in conference play allowing just one goal over the eight-game span.
For the season, Saorla Miller and Mya Jones have been a dynamic duo for the Tigers, combining for 17 goals and 12 assists while rookie Anna Hauer has added in seven goals and two assists. Between the pipes, Kaylie Bierman has been nearly perfect for Memphis making 28 saves while boasting a 0.34 goals-against average.
Bierman, along with Claire Wyville and Lorelei Logan, are currently combined for a 0.33 goals-against average – the lowest for the program since the 2021 season where they finished with a 0.51 GAA.
"The team is doing well with our game plan as well as the energy we've had in the last couple of matches," head coach Brooks Monaghan said. "We need to bring that same energy into the game this week to give us the best shot at a win."
Tulsa (5-7-5, 3-1-4 AAC) comes into Thursday's game off back-to-back wins over Temple and UAB where the Golden Hurricane outscored their opponents 9-2.
In their most recent win, Tulsa scored four unanswered goals in the second half to take the 4-2 decision over the Blazers.
"It's going to be a tough match," Monaghan said. "They're playing some really good soccer and I think it's going to be a good test for us playing them on the road. We need to be firing on all cylinders – this is our last match going into postseason play and we want to end it on a high note."
For the season, Jordan Fredrick and Leah Diaz both have four goals recorded while Kaylie Fernandez has chipped in three goals and four assists. In goal, Tatum Sanders has been the Golden Hurricane's go-to with 51 saves made in over 1,120 minutes played.
Memphis has seen great success over Tulsa in the past, taking the previous five matchups while outscoring them 18-3.
Thursday's match is scheduled for a 7 p.m. kick-off in Tulsa with coverage available on ESPN+.
