MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis Tiger men's soccer team will make their way back to the Bluff City this weekend when they host the Owls of Temple University this Saturday evening.
The Tigers (7-3-2, 2-3 AAC) come into this weekend's match on a three-game winning streak that was extended after a 3-1 decision over UAB on Saturday. Lineker Rodrigues dos Santos and Alberto Cruz netted goals for Memphis while JD Gunn picked up his fourth win of the season after making four stops.
"We're playing with confidence right now," head coach Richard Mulrooney said. "We're playing well, creating chances and not giving up much on the defensive end. We still have to make sure we're taking care of business and it's a great opportunity for us to get three points on our home field on Saturday."
Rodrigues dos Santos has been the spark for the Tiger offense this season netting nine goals in 12 matches. Between the pipes, Gunn has been the go-to for Memphis the past three matches. In the 270 minutes of work, Gunn has made 14 saves and has lowered his goals-against average to below 1.0.
Temple (2-6-4, 1-2-2 AAC) comes in Saturday's game off a 2-1 loss to Stony Brook. While the Owls were able to net the go-ahead goal in the 64' off Felix Ewald, SBU would come back to two goals within three minutes to take the win.
For the season, Ewald leads the team with four goals while Juan Zepeda and Lleyton Imparato have added in two goals each. In goal, Andrew Kempe and Flannan Riley have split time with a combined 44 saves made.
Saturday's match is scheduled for a 7 p.m. kick-off with coverage available on ESPN+.
