No. 10 Tigers Crowned AAC West Division Champions

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis women's soccer team got a two-for-one win Thursday night earning a 4-0 shutout over UAB en route to being named the first American Athletic Conference West Champions.
With the win, Memphis moved to 13-1 for the season and 7-0 in AAC play.

- The scoring started early for Memphis, getting on the board in the 5' when Mya Jones found the feet of Anna Hauer deep in the box for a 1-0 lead.
- Just 40 seconds later, Momo Nakao would connect with Honoka Hamano who found the back of the net to put the Tigers up two.
- While the Memphis offense excelled in the opening frame, the Tiger defense held the Blazers to no shots in the first half.
- Saorla Miller notched the team's third goal of the night on a high strike in the 59' that would go off the UAB goalkeeper's hands and into the net.
- The final Tiger goal came in the 73' when Jones sent in a low shot into the box that ricocheted off the heel of Haylee Spray and into the top of the net for the 4-0 advantage.
- UAB's lone shot of the match came in the 74' when Graycen Elliott sent a rocket towards the net that Claire Wyville stopped.
- With the win over the Blazers, Memphis also locked up the No. 1 seed in the American Athletic Conference Championship.
- The win brought the team's winning streak to 10 games – the program's best streak since the 2019 season.
- Memphis' undefeated home streak extends to 18 matches dating back to Oct. 2021.
- Kaylie Bierman got the start in goal with 70 minutes of work. Wyville finished off the final 20 minutes.
- Memphis won the battle in shots (18-1), shots on goal (7-1) and corner kicks (17-0).
- The Tigers have outscored their opponents 36-5 after their four goals Thursday.
