MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Memphis Tiger women's soccer team will play at the Track & Soccer Complex one last time this regular season when it hosts UAB on Thursday evening and Temple on Sunday afternoon.
Memphis (12-1, 6-0 AAC) comes into Thursday night's game on a nine-game win streak that was extended this past weekend with the Tigers claimed back-to-back wins over East Carolina and Charlotte. Anna Hauer netted her fifth goal of the season – the third in the last two matches for her – while Momo Nakao headed in the game-winner against Charlotte on Sunday afternoon.
"This team has potential to be great, not just good," head coach Brooks Monaghan said. "We're doing a lot of really good things but right now it is about the fine details and growing as a team."
For the season, Saorla Miller leads the team with eight goals while Hauer, Nakao and Mya Jones have a combined 16 goals. As a team, Memphis is outscoring its opponents 32-5 while holding opposing offenses to under eight shots per match.
Between the posts, Kaylie Bierman has been a brick wall with 28 saves made in 923 minutes of work. The junior goalkeeper is currently boasting a conference best 0.39 goals-against average while ranking in the top-15 in the nation with her 0.875 save percentage.
UAB (5-4-5, 1-1-4 AAC) comes into Thursday's contest off their first AAC win of the season. The Blazers took a 2-1 decision over Rice behind goals from Izzy Passman and Asha Zuniga.
The Blazers are currently led by Zuniga and Carlyn Presley on the offensive end while Eve Beyer and Anika Toth have split time in-goal.
"We have really emphasized on things we need to work on from this past weekend and the team has responded well. So hopefully, we can take from those practices, bring them to the game on Thursday and grow as a team," Monaghan said.
Memphis has taken victories in the last seven matchups against UAB with the most recent coming last season where the Tigers claimed the 2-1 win behind goals from Anne-Valerie Seto and Momo Nakao in the opening frame of play.
Temple (2-10-3, 0-6 AAC) is coming off back-to-back losses to Rice and UTSA.
Beky Myers and Nicole Sweeney lead the team with a combined five goals while the Owls have gone between Tasmin Bynoe and Taylor Vecchione in goal.
Thursday night's kick-off is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start while Sunday's match will begin at 1 p.m. Both games can be found on ESPN+.
