Track and Field Finishes Home Meet with Nine Gold Medals

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – University of Memphis track and field wrapped up the regular season Saturday night with nine titles at the Memphis Tiger Invitational.
This was the first time since 2019 the Tigers hosted a home competition, and it was the last meet before the American Athletic Conference Championships in two weeks. All 19 graduating seniors were also recognized for their track and field and cross country tenures at Memphis.
Hudson Hurst, Adam Yakobi, Zachary Wyatt and Vitaliy Favorov all earned a top spot in their respective events. Yakobi and Favorov both still hold top-three conference rankings for the 400m hurdles and javelin, respectively.
Cole Riddle placed second in the men's pole vault with a new personal best of 5.53m. This places him third in the conference and 10thoverall in the NCAA.
On the women's side, Chloe Figgins, Hannah Anderson, Rachel Fruchtmann, DeeNia McMiller and Mona Jaidi all earned a first-place spot in their individual events. McMiller and Jaidi both won multiple medals in throwing events; McMiller claimed first in shot put and silvers in both the discus and hammer, and Jaidi earned the gold for javelin and silver for shot put. They both have multiple top-five conference rankings in throws.
The Tigers will begin the post-season in two weeks at the conference championships in Wichita, Kan. After that, if qualified, athletes will compete in the NCAA East Regional Championship at the ended of May.
