
Tigers Sit in Fifth After First Round of AAC Championship

PINEHURST, N.C. – The University of Memphis women's golf team began competition at the 2022 American Athletic Conference (AAC) Championship on Sunday in Pinehurst, N.C., shooting a score of 302 (+14) at Pinehurst No. 6.
Houston leads the 10-team tournament after 18 holes with a score of 292 (+4), five strokes better than No. 28-ranked UCF and SMU. The Tigers are just three strokes behind South Florida in fourth place.
KEY MOMENTS
• Junior Victoria England continued her great play at Pinehurst No. 6, picking up where she left last year when she tied for ninth at the 2021 AAC Championship.
• On Sunday, England carded at team-best score of 73 (+1) to end the first round in a tie for sixth place.
• Classmate Brooke Veres is tied for 13th overall after 18 holes with a score of 75 (+3).
• Both Katie Stinchcomb and Victoria Gallegos are tied for 25th place with totals of 77 (+5), while Rebecca Brink is tied for 38th with a score of 80 (+8).
