Track and Field Has 25 Top-10 Performances Over the Weekend

OXFORD, Miss. – After two full days of competition at the Joe Walker Invitational, University of Memphis track and field finished with 25 top-10 performances.
The Tigers were among the 26 schools in Oxford, and there were more than 700 athletes competing.
Robert Watson was one of the four Tigers to earn a medal with his third-place performance in the men's hammer throw (65.75m), still placing him second in the conference for the event. Also holding a second-place conference ranking is Elina Nebl, with her third-place 45.37m javelin throw.
Alyssa Morello was the third Tiger to earn a bronze, hers being in the women's pole vault with a top clearance of 3.88m.
Payton Gleason was one of a few Tigers to instead compete at the Flames Invitational, hosted by Lee University in Cleveland, Tenn. In a field of 80 runners, he earned a top-10 spot in the men's 10k, finishing eighth with a time of 29:46.85. This new time places him third on the Memphis all-time performance list for the event and earns him a new fourth-place conference ranking.
Next up, the Tigers will travel to Auburn, Ala., for the War Eagle Invitational beginning Friday.
