Track and Field Competes in Last Meet Before Conference Championships

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – University of Memphis track and field is set to compete in two different meets Friday, just one week before the indoor American Athletic Conference championships.
A portion of the team will travel to the Redhawks Open, hosted by Southeast Missouri State University. Competition will begin at the Southeast Student Recreation Center at 3:30 p.m. and will end later that night after sprinting events. The Tigers will be competing in throws and sprints.
At the second meet, some jumpers and vault athletes will compete at the Arkansas Qualifier in Fayetteville, Ark. Events kick off at 1 p.m. at the Randal Tyson Track Center.
Most recently, the teams competed at the Indoor Music City Challenge in Nashville, where they had 13 top-10 performances in a competitive field of several top-25 teams.
Several male athletes still hold top-10 conference rankings in their respective events including Parker Evans, Sam Jones, Iason Machairas, Justin Miller, Drew O'Connor, Evan Puckett, Cole Riddle, Robby Watson and Zachary Wyatt. The women include Chloe Figgins, Vigdis Jonsdottir, Samantha Lenton, DeeNia McMiller, Alyssa Morello and Solstice Saliba.
Looking ahead, the Tigers will travel back to Birmingham, Ala., for the second time this season for the indoor conference championships next weekend.
