MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis (17-12 7-9 AAC) fell to East Carolina (9-18, 4-11 AAC) in five sets on Sunday afternoon. ECU defeated Memphis by the score of 23-25,25-13, 27-25,19-25, 15-12.

The Tigers jumped out to a quick 7-2 leads thanks to an 6-0 in the first set. Alexis Lewis and Kate Bass combined for nine kills in the set to help Memphis take the 1-0 advantage.

The Pirates rebounded, defeating Memphis soundly in the second set and edge them out in the third. The Tigers had their best hitting percentage (.287) in the fourth set with only offensive four errors to force a fifth set.

Memphis led the Pirates for a majority of the fifth with East Carolina tying it at nine-all. The two teams traded back points with East Carolina eventually hitting the final kill.

Notables

Memphis defense has a total 12 blocks compared to ECU's nine.
Loren Robertson had a match high 50 assists.
