Tigers Head to South Florida, Host ECU

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Memphis women's soccer team will split their week between Tampa and the Bluff City as they take on the Bulls of South Florida on Thursday evening before coming back to Memphis to host the Pirates of East Carolina on Sunday afternoon
Memphis (4-3-4, 0-0-3 AAC) is coming off their fourth consecutive draw with a come from behind effort against Houston last Thursday. Following Cougar goals in the 11' and 62' of play, the Tigers would rally in the final six minutes of the match with goals from Mya Jones and Jocelyn Alonzo to take a share of the 2-2 final.
For the season, Jones leads the team with four goals while Momo Nakao, Anne-Valerie Seto, Alonzo, Saorla Miller and Eef Kerkhof have all recorded multiple goals. Four other Memphis players have also netted goals.
Junior redshirt Claire Wyville has been the go-to for Memphis the past five matches while recording 13 saves and three shutouts in 450 minutes of work.
South Florida (5-6, 2-1 AAC) has picked up back-to-back wins in their last two matches, shutting out Tulsa, and most recently, SMU. Chiara Hahn picked up her fourth goal of the year in the 19' over the Mustangs that would hold as the game-winning goal.
Hahn leads the Bulls in goals while seven other USF players have recorded goals. Sydney Martinez, who has spent just under 900 minutes in goal this season, has recorded 38 saves while picking up three shutouts.
Thursday night will be a rematch of the AAC Championship game last season; following a scoreless 90 minutes, Memphis and South Florida would play two overtime periods where neither team would find the back of the net. Tanya Boychuk, Saorla Miller and Jocelyn Alonzo would all connect with the back of the net in the shootout to win 3-0.
East Carolina (7-4-2, 2-0-1 AAC) comes into Sunday's match fresh off their shutout draw with Tulsa this past Sunday. Despite winning the battle in shots and corner kicks, the Pirates were unable to connect for a goal.
For the season, Carsen Parker leads the team with four goals while Isabella Gutierrez and Annabelle Abbott have added in three. Maeve English has been the go-to in goal for the Pirates, playing and starting in all 13 matches while making 27 saves with just nine goals allowed.
Thursday's match is scheduled for a 6 p.m. CT start while Sunday's game will begin at 12 p.m. at the Track & Soccer Complex. Coverage for both games can be found on ESPN+.
