Jan 20, 2022 | Men's Track and Field, Women's Track and Field
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Memphis track and field team will travel to Nashville Friday to return to competition at the Vanderbilt Invitational. This is the first time the Tigers will compete in the two-day meet since the 2018-19 season.
Events are scheduled to begin 11 a.m. Friday and will conclude late Saturday afternoon at the Vanderbilt Multipurpose Facility. This is the first of two meets the Tigers will travel to Nashville for, with the second being the Music City Challenge in February.
Along with several veteran athletes, NCAA All-American honoree DeeNia McMiller will return to indoor competition with the Tigers.
Head coach Kevin Robinson's squad is eager to start competition this weekend. One of his main messages to the team starting out the season is to "be smart and make good decisions." He said he also wants to keep the passion and motivation high, as well as pushing athletes to "trust the process."
"Overall, this is my first time to gauge the team as a whole," Robinson said. "There is much to be learned this weekend about who we are now and who we can become by the end of the year."
Competing Teams: Arkansas State, Austin Peay, Belmont, Cumberland, ETSU, Georgia State, Kentucky, Lee University, Life University, Little Rock, Memphis, MTSU, Ole Miss, Southern Miss, Tennessee State, Tennessee Tech, ULM and Western Kentucky.
