Tigers Open 2021 Season This Weekend in Columbus
Aug 26, 2021 | Men's Soccer
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Memphis Tigers open the 2021 men's soccer season in Ohio State's annual Wolstein Classic, playing the host Buckeyes Friday at 6 p.m. CT and Dayton at 10 a.m. CT on Sunday.
Friday's game against the Buckeyes can be seen on B1G+. Live stats are available for both games.
"We're excited to have this opportunity to open up the season at Ohio State," Memphis head coach Richard Mulrooney said. "The guys have trained hard throughout the summer and during preseason to be ready for our first game. I believe we will be ready for the challenge of both games against strong opponents."
The Tigers return their leading goal-scorer from last season in Emanuel Santos, who found the back of the net three times in the spring. Seven other Tigers who played in all 10 games in the spring are also back this fall. Goalkeeper Parker Lackland, who played in all but one match in the spring, also returns.
After the games at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium this weekend, the Tigers have three more non-conference road games before opening American Athletic Conference play at home against UCF on Saturday, Sept. 18.
The Tigers travel to Saint Louis (Sept. 6), UAB (Sept. 11) and Central Arkansas (Sept. 14) to round out non-conference action.
