Track and Field records 13 top-three finishes at conference championships

TAMPA, Fla. – University of Memphis finished the American Athletic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships at the USF Track & Field Stadium with 13 top-three performances Sunday.
Memphis athletes first had success Friday in the women's hammer throw, where Vigdis Jonsdottir, Amber Simpson and Samantha Lenton placed third through fifth, respectively.
Also in Friday field events, Mona Jaidi finished in the top spot for the women's javelin throw (54.62m), followed by Elina Nebl in second (49.07m). Max Emmerich claimed a top-three spot in the men's javelin, with a third-place 65.77m throw. Rounding out events Friday night, Payton Gleason placed third in the men's 10000m run with a time of 30:50.84.
For the rest of the weekend, Samantha Lenton and Adam Neelly both recorded two second-place finishes in shot put and the discus throw. Neelly finished the men's shot put with an 18.34m throw, followed by Iason Machairas in third (17.62m). He also took second in the men's discus (53.88m). Lenton recorded a 15.65m performance for the shot put and a 51.60m throw in discus. She stands at 12th in the nation in the women's discus.
Robin Nool, Gage Ernsberger and Ladasia Walton all placed third in their respective events: Nool in the men's pole vault (5.27m), Ernsberger in the men's high jump (2.08m) and Walton in the women's high jump (1.76m).
