Memphis Softball swept in four game series with RV Wichita State

MEMPHIS, TENN. –Memphis softball swept in four games series with RV Wichita State 5-0. Gracie Morton recorded a hit in all four games of the series.
Olivia Johnson started in the circle for the Tigers. This is her fourth start and 14th appearance for the Tigers this season. Johnson threw five and two thirds innings, giving up three runs on five hits. Kailey Hilderbrand came in relief in the top of the sixth. Hilderbrand went a third of an inning, giving up two runs on three hits. Hallie Siems came in the circle in the top of the seventh inning. She went the full inning giving up no runs and no hits.
Bailey Lange made her second start and third appearance of the series for the Shockers.
The Shockers got on the board first, in the first inning as Sydney McKinney scored on a few throwing errors by the Tigers. Then in the third inning, Madison Perrigan started the inning off with a solo home run to left center to make it a 2-0 ball game.
The Tigers and Shockers traded zeros for two innings. In the top of the sixth, Lauren Mills, pinch hitting for Kaylee Huecker, hit a double down the first base line scoring Ryleigh Buck. The Shockers extended their lead in the seventh. Addison Barnard hit a two run home run to left center scoring McKinney.
Gracie Morton, Alyssa Dean and Kendall Lee each had a hit for the Tigers.
The Tigers fall to 6-24(0-8) and the Shockers improve to 24-5(7-1).

The Tigers will travel to Martin, Tennessee to take on the Skyhawks of UT Martin. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00p.m. at Bettye Giles Softball Field. The Tigers are 14-6 all-time against UT Martin and 6-5 at Martin.
