MEMPHIS, Tenn. – As part of the Memphis Tigers men's basketball Charity Stripe program, the Memphis Area Toyota Dealers have donated $10,000 to the Tiger Scholarship Fund.
The Tigers made 335 free throws this season, and for each one the Memphis Area Toyota Dealers made a donation to support the mission of the Tiger Scholarship Fund to create and support opportunities for success for Memphis student-athletes.
"We appreciate the Memphis Area Toyota Dealers' support of the Tigers," said Todd Kucinski, general manager for Tiger Sports Properties, Memphis Athletics' longtime multimedia rightsholder. "This program is designed as a give-back to the Tiger Scholarship Fund, and we are very appreciative for the continued commitment to the athletic program, our city and this collaborative partnership."
"On behalf of the Memphis Area Toyota Dealers, I would like to say thank you to the Memphis Tigers for letting us be a part of this amazing university and basketball program," Memphis Area Toyota Dealers General Manager Matt Trumbo said. "It means a lot to us, and we look forward to continuing to support these student-athletes."
The Tigers won the 2021 NIT championship and finished the 2020-21 season with a 20-8 record. The 20-win season was Memphis' fourth in a row, including all three seasons under head coach Penny Hardaway. The Tigers are one of just 14 schools with four-straight 20-win seasons to their credit. Hardaway has won 63 games in three seasons as Tigers head coach, which is the third-most among 50 head coaches hired before the 2018-19 season.
