Two of AAC’s top five pitchers quiet Tigers bats in DH with No 25 UCF

MEMPHIS, Tenn. –Two of AAC's top five pitchers quiet Tigers bats in doubleheader with No 25 UCF 10-2 and 8-0. Coming into the weekend series, The Tigers are 16-27 all-time against the Knights of UCF and 11-11 at the Memphis Softball Complex.
No 25 UCF has the second best era in the AAC, with a 2.45 era. They are also second in the conference in hitting, with a .310 batting average, 233 runs on 361 hits and 44 home runs.
GAME 1
Hallie Siems got the start in game one for the Tigers. Coming into the game Siems was 2-6 on the year with a 5.54 era. This was her tenth start of the season. Siems went three innings, giving up five runs on six hits. She also had four walks and one strikeout. Zoey LeCompte came in relief in the fourth inning, making her ninth appearance of the season. LeCompte went one inning, giving up five runs on six hits as well. Olivia Johnson finished out the game in the circle for the Tigers.
Alea White started her 20th game of the year for the Knights. She leads the Knights with a 1.81 era, a 15-4 record, 13 complete games and 118 strikeouts. White is ranked second in the AAC in total pitching. White threw all five innings for No 25 UCF, giving up two runs on three hits. She also had five strikeouts.
The Knights started the scoring quick with two runs on two hits in the top of the first. UCF then added two more runs in the third inning, off a two run home run by Shannon Doherty, extending their lead to 4-0.
No 25 UCF added four more runs in the fourth inning. After two solo home runs by Georgia Blair and Juliana Wilson, Karrissa Ornelas hit a two RBI double to right center. Jazmine Esparza then scored Ornelas from second on a single to right, making it a 9-0 ballgame. Jada Cody hit a solo home run to start the fifth inning, ending the scoring for the Knights at 10-0.
The Tigers did get two runs back in the bottom of the fifth inning, off a two run home run to left by Brady Rowland.
GAME 2
Johnson got the start in game two. She went a third of an inning, giving up two runs on two hits. Kailey Hilderbrand replaced her in the circle. Hilderbrand went two and thirds innings, giving up four runs on five hits. Mariah Nichols finished out the game for the Tigers. She went 3 and a third inning, she gave up one on two hits.
Gianna Mancha started in the circle for the Knights. She entered the game with a 2.14 era and 10-4 record on the year. She is ranked fifth in total pitching in the AAC. Mancha threw a complete game for Knights. She threw a no hitter and had a season high strikeouts with 13.
No 25 UCF once again got off to a hot start. As they scored three runs in first, including two on a pair of doubles by Blair and Wilson. The Knights would add one more run in the second to extend their lead to 4-0.
The Knights added three more in the third, off of a solo home run by Doherty then a two run home run by Jazmine Esparza to make it 7-0. In the sixth inning, the knights added one more as Denali Schappacher scored from third on a pass ball.
The Tigers and UCF had a rain delay in the bottom of the fifth inning, which lasted 46 minutes.
The Tigers fall to 7-31(0-14) and the Knights improve 32-12-1(11-6-1).
